The Fate of the Shiny Red Shoes..Sep. 19th

So Behind in my Blogging!!   Well, there are a lot of new things in the works here at Lisa’s Mini Mad Hattery! Which I will share with you all very soon!   The exciting new website is getting close to being completed!! Yay.  I can’t wait to show you all:)

I thought I would start things off with this fun light hearted Poem that my friend Deborah Scherler wrote, it reminds me so much of my youngest, Sabrina:)

The Fate Of The Shiny Red Shoes

by Deborah Scherler

Grandmother bought me

New red shoes, beautiful and shiny…

but tight.

“How nice of her,”

Mother sighed.

“You must wear them for her tonight.”

What she didn’t know is they cramp my toes!

What need have I of these?

When the dogwood tree’s my favorite home ~

There I wear on my feet pink petals and leaves.

“But wear them you must,” mother insisted,

“Your grandmama to please.”

“But I cannot wear them now,” I confessed,The fate of the shiny red shoes

“They no longer belong to me.

I built in the left shoe a home for caterpillar,

In the right, a bed for toad,

And if you want me to wear those shiny red shoes,

You will have to go climb the dogwood.”Photography by Shannon Sewell

Vintage Brides..Jun. 16th

I was so excited to have the privilege of sending my hats and new rhinestone-lace wrist cuffs off to the talented Terilyn of  Archetype Studios for this amazing Wedding photo shoot!  The setting was this beautiful French styled Chateau.    I paired up my headpieces with these gorgeous one of kind wedding gowns, created by designer  Sarah of  Vintage Opulence . Absolutely stunning!  The photos, the gowns.. wow!  This makes me want to say “I do” all over again!

Jumping with Your Eyes Closed!May. 31st

The past few months have been a blur.  My vintage-inspired head pieces have been used by some amazing photographers, I decided to make a business out of it and well…here I am!  Here’s a bit of background in case you were wondering where all of this came from!  I recently moved with my wonderful husband  Tom and my darling girls Mikeala and Sabrina , to the north west  from southern California {where  the  sun rarely hides} to this oasis of green and mountainous beauty… Although  in the winter, with that comes a price.. .rain… and lots of it!  I loved the beauty of colors and textures of the flowers and beauty that lay dormant in the winter here nestled under the earth awaiting  their chance to pop up in the spring, but that seemed so far away , so  I thought “I will create my own garden “ and up popped my headpieces and hats!  I love to surround myself with colorful fabrics, French laces and ohhh those vintage flowers!  To think that someone has sat there 70 + years ago hand painting every petal and wrapping every stem… pure craftsmanship!  With my background in Fashion Design and Millinery, I have always loved the the challenge of creating items that are different and unique but that are also timeless.  One thing led to another and wow  Lisa’s Mini Mad Hattery took shape and has been evolving ever since .. there are some really exciting things just around the corner…
